Tuberculosis of cervical spine with quadriparesis

Tuberculosis of cervical spine with quadriparesis

12 year old boy presented with neck pain and weakness of all four limbs. His MRI was suggestive of Tuberculosis of spine with significant destruction and focal deformity. This was a complex case in view of young age of patient and significant destruction of vertebrae and the high level of cervical spine involvement. Master Kishore (name changed) underwent a three stage 9 hour surgery — first from front for decompression, then from back to correct the deformity and put screws and then again from front for bone grafting and fixing with plate and screws. The outcome was good with good correction of alignment of spine and neurological recovery. Patient is now walking independantly.
