Pituitary adenoma

This patient presented with visual fild defects due to a large suprasellar extension of the tumor. Patient underwent "Endonasal Endoscopic Binaural approach" and total excision of the tumor.
Post-operatively, visual recovery was significant with improved visual fields and visual acuity.
This is a safe approach with minimal morbidity and good outcome. This is now the routine approach for lesions in this region. Other conditions managed include metastatic tumors, cranipharyngiomas, Rathke's cleft cyst. More ventrally, spontaneous CSF rhinorrhoea can be repaired safely by this approach. More posteriorly, clival lesions as chordomas and odontoidectomy can be safely performed.
Aids used: Endoscope, Neuro-navigation, Neurosurgical drill

Pre-operative scans with a large pituitary adenoma with significant suprasellar extension and chaismal compression

Pre-operative visual fields with left temporal hemianopia

Post-op scans with complete excision of the adenoma and lax optic chaisma and nerves.

Post operative visual fields (improved -- the black areas have reduced significantly)
